About the Series

Larry Berman has been educating investors on air for over 20 years. During the great financial crisis of 2008, viewer phone calls and emails convinced Larry there was a need for more in-depth investing education to help Canadians achieve better outcomes. In 2009 he began hosting live educational conferences. As there are many excellent initiatives aimed at increasing financial literacy, Larry’s conferences cater to individuals who already have a degree of money savvy and are looking to optimize their investment performance to fund their retirement lifestyle goals. Each season the event series empowers investors – addressing the building blocks of sound investment strategy, along with hot-topic subjects in the world of economics and personal finance.

Every show will include digital audience-engagement, and a crowd-sourced version of Berman’s Call, with live audience polling and Q&A using Slido technology.

To date the speaking series has produced more than 190 successful shows, reaching an audience in excess of 59,000 attendees across most Canadian cities, and raising more than $290,000 for Alzheimer’s research and Sick Kids Hospital (#EndChildhoodCancer). All shows are completely free of charge to attendees, thanks in part to the generous support of our event sponsors.

Uncharted Territory:

How to profit while protecting in the longest bull market of all-time

History reminds us that we need to be cautious in our asset allocation choices late in the business cycle. Since no one can time the market with precise precision, Larry will show you how to implement option based strategies to generate income while the markets go through their late cycle phase. Larry will provide insights into building an “All-Weather” portfolio. Learn how to use all asset classes to build portfolios. You don’t need to rely on equity portfolios only. Larry will also look at his top long term investment themes for the next decade and beyond and why ETFs are the best way to play them. We’ll touch on hot spots such as AI and robotics, cyber security, FANGs, biotech and healthcare, clean energy, water and Infrastructure among others.

August 22, 2018: US Market hits a milestone – officially becoming the longest bull market of all-time. Since the dark days of early 2009, many have been sceptical of the foundations upon which the recovery was built. It’s true that many systemic problems didn’t go away, and are arguably much worse, but government and fiscal policy has played an ever-increasing role in engineering this bull to go the distance.

There’s a saying that bull market don’t die of old age, but with this one being the oldest (and the credit cycle entering a tightening phase), it’s hard to ignore the statistical odds of a recession within the next 2 years. However the late innings of this market are all about the United States – in fact if you don’t have at least a market-weight of US investments (40 percent plus), your portfolio is probably flat or slightly down this year. Love him or hate him, Donald J Trump is the one driving the bus, and his administration could extend this market upswing with good policy decisions. That said, if he loses the mid-term elections, the probability of an impeachment in 2019 goes up significantly. Trump warns that would crash markets, but other industry experts disagree. The only thing that everyone agrees on – no one know what will happen next, and we all want to make money while limiting our risk.

Larry will be touching on the following topics:

Artificial Intelligence
Robotics
Biotech/Healthcare
Marijuana
Clean Energy
Cyber Security
Clean Water
US/Late Stage Growth
